Automating the manufacturing process is the right choice when the right elements are there. In the case of our newest addition, the customer was looking for a process that would eliminate the potential of a green crack. The volume was there to support this request so an automated cell was engineered and developed to receive a part and place it on the furnace belt without the assistance of the human hand. This application presented some challenges as the parts have to be oriented and stacked up on ceramic plates before being advanced on to the furnace belt. As with any new development there were modifications required in the early stages but at 500,000 pcs. produced, we are well on our way.
